IMMERSION - OUR ANCHORS
The Basics of Immersion
God is real. He created everything there is, and he asked humans--people
like you and me--to care for and to be a blessing to that creation.
God’s creation was very good but something very bad happened,
something that “infected” our world with a universal
and prideful craving for power, pleasure and possessions. While
referred to in many ways, this “something” is best
known as “sin.” And, if we are honest we know that
we, too, are infected by it.
God, however, never gives up on us--even more he never gives
up on you--and he is now in the process of restoring his creation
and renewing his world. God is doing this through his son, Jesus
Christ.
Jesus Christ, through his life, death and resurrection, has
restored humanity’s relationship with God and makes it
possible for each of us to become a new creation, free from sin,
guilt and shame. Through Jesus, God has made it possible for
each of us to be a vital part of his ongoing work of renewal
and new creation, important participants in a world of mercy,
justice, opportunity and grace.
Jesus Christ is best known through the Bible and prayer, through
God’s visible community known as the church, and through
purpose-filled fellowship with others who sincerely seek to experience
the transforming ways of our life-giving God.
Jesus Christ invites all who claim his name to embrace his Word
and his Way and to take God’s good news of new creation
and freedom from the slavery of sin to our neighbor, our community,
our nation and our world.
